David Mills’ ‘Optimising the design development process’ presentation was the hit of the Engineering Design Show Conference. Providing practical hands-on advice on how the design development process can be optimised, Mills was able to draw on his decades of experience to highlight potential pitfalls and how they can be overcome.

The show, which took place at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry between 10th and 11th October 2012, is one of a kind, catering specifically for the needs of design engineers, regardless of the industry in which they work.

Mills’ states “It was a great honour to be invited to speak at the first Engineering Design Show Conference. I really hope that people came away with something to help and inspired to optimise their company's design processes.”

Having provided design and engineering services on a consultancy basis, Haughton Design’s development process has become lean to ensure that projects are delivered within time and budget constraints. Many internal design teams are facing a reduction in new product development budgets therefore optimising their product development process allows more efficient design so products get to market faster and provide a quicker return on their investment.
