Haughton Design were proud sponsors of SolidSolutions launch of SolidWorks 2013, which took place on the 8th November at the prestigious Heritage Motor Center in Gaydon. With guest speaker Sir Ranulph Fiennes, the event drew in over 400 SolidWorks users.

After the launch of SolidWorks 2012, which saw Design Development Consultant Lisa Wolseley-Hext speak at the launch event nationally, Haughton were keen to show their support for the software’s continual improvement.  Managing Director, David Mills, notes “SolidWorks plays a key role within Haughton Design, so I make a point of sending our consultants year after year to ensure they have the necessary skills to deliver an efficient service to our clients. Sponsoring the event this year has allowed us to introduce our service to other SolidWorks users who may benefit from outsourcing certain elements of their development work.”

‘What’s new in SolidWorks 2013’ featured Haughton Design’s previous project the ‘Optical One Putter Head.’ The putter was used to demonstrate the software’s ability to project multiple open ended sketches at once. Mills notes “It was a privilege to be asked to share some of our previous projects with so many SolidWorks users.”

In addition to introducing users to new SolidWorks features, SolidSolutons invited the world’s greatest living explorer, Sir Ranulph Fiennes to speak at the event. Sharing his harrowing experiences from his expeditions across the globe, he is a testament to human endeavour. Next year Sir Ranulph will lead the first team on foot across Antarctica in temperatures of -90C. Mills notes “Seeing what Sir Ranulph has achieved encourages designers to continually look for new challenges, driving innovation.”

Sir Ranulph also paid a visit to Haughton Design’s exhibition stand, and can be seen photographed with David Mills.
